< New public identity
Anglican Community Care Incorporated will be introducing a new public identity effective 3rd April 2009

ACCare Logo

We are not changing our name, rather we are formalising a shortened version of our name within a new logo. It is pronounced ‘ay see care’. This will diminish confusion with other organisations and the variety of ways the organisation is referred to in the community

The reasons behind this decision
This has been a carefully considered decision. Anglican Community Care Incorporated has made this decision based on extensive feedback from staff, stakeholders and independent external market research. The decision has taken into account the need to raise the profile of the organisation in order to broaden our reach to people in our communities and to remove the confusion with other organisations. Increasing our profile will also help us to strengthen our services by raising funds for programmes that will have a positive impact in our communities, particularly in areas for which we do not receive government funding.

What will not change:

  • Our commitment to the rural people in the communities we serve and the delivery of high quality client focussed services will not change. Staff continue to be dedicated to professional, caring service delivery.
  • Legal entity - The legal entity of the organisation remains the same, i.e. Anglican Community Care Incorporated ABN 53 440 436 445.
  • Anglican links – we remain a Christian based organisation and our membership of the Anglicare Australia network is ongoing.
  • Telephone numbers and addresses – remain the same.

What will be new:

  • The way we refer to the organisation – now as “ac.care”
(eliminating current incorrect referrals such as Anglicare, SEACC or the use of the acronym ACC, which is used for other organisations such as Area Consultative Committees, Adelaide City Council, Australian Crime Commission etc)
  • Logo as above.
  • Our slogan ‘creating opportunities’ has been updated to ‘opportunities for life … for rural people’. This reflects how we support our clients and also demonstrates that this organisation was created in a rural community, for rural communities, giving us a significant point of difference to outreach services of metropolitan based organisations.
  • Website www.accare.org.au
  • Email suffixes will change from @accinc.org.au to @accare.org.au. Emails to the current address will continue to be delivered for six months.
(We have run down our stock of brochures and stationery items and have held off on purchasing uniforms and other items that were budgeted for until this decision was made, to ensure expenses are kept to the essential minimum.)

Our JourneyAnglican Community Care Incorporated was formed in Mount Gambier in 1985, with one social worker, a part-time administration officer and an accommodation support worker.

Placement of children into foster care in Mount Gambier was in hand with the State Government, however, a strong and growing need was emerging for “at risk” local teenagers to be accommodated safely in stable and nurturing environments. Together, caring local individuals and government departments were successful in receiving a state government grant. The Anglican Parish Council of Christ Church Mount Gambier came forward and accepted the responsibility for auspicing the then foster care service for local teenagers aged 12 to 18 years. A separate organisation called ‘South East Teenage Care’ was created.

Today the organisation employs nearly 200 staff with current offices and community centres in Mount Gambier, Millicent, Naracoorte, Bordertown, Murray Bridge, Berri and Waikerie. More than 60,550(FY07-08) people in the South East, Riverland and Murraylands of South Australia were supported by Anglican Community Care Incorporated, through over 70 different programs and services that fall under one or more of our goals of ~ alleviating homelessness ~ building communities ~ promoting learning ~ reducing poverty ~ sharing cultures ~ strengthening families ~ supporting children.

Thank you for your support in the past. We look forward to further strengthening our relationships in the future, working together for the benefit of our rural communities.

Yours sincerely,

Rob Foggo
Chief Executive Officer

Mike Bleby
Convener, Board of Management
