Community Development Program
All Riverland staff work within the Community Development program. This ensures every staff member has a strong commitment to addressing community issues. Examples of strategies that have been developed are the Waikerie Community Centre, the Right on Target Youth Peer Education Program and the Healthy Pregnancies Project. This year the Anglican Community Care staff at the Waikerie Community Centre have facilitated and been involved in the Breakfast program at the local primary and high school as well as the Indigenous Representative Council at the high school.
Youth Development Program
The Youth Development Program provides Indigenous young people in the Berri, Barmera and Gerard areas with social, recreational and educational activities. These activities enable young people to develop confidence, achieve success, work as a team and actively participate in the community. Furthermore this program coordinates the Riverland Indigenous Youth Action Committee, which is a committee of young people who are supported to develop leadership skills and to act as a voice for indigenous young people in the wider community.
