Murray Bridge Adelaide Hills Homelessness Week 40% experiencing mental health issues

Homelessness week is 7 to 13 August 2017. ac.care provides the Murray Bridge / Adelaide Hills Generic Homelessness Service.
ac.care reports for the period 1 July 2016 to 30 June 2017 their workers provided homelessness services to 501 people who came to the Murray Bridge office. Three hundred and eighty people were new clients. Of the 501 who requested support, 22% were Aboriginal, 10% children 0 to 9, 18% young adults 18 to 24 and 24% adults 25 to 34. Forty percent of clients were experiencing mental health issues. The main presenting issues were 56% inadequate or inappropriate dwelling conditions and 33% housing crisis (eg, recently evicted). Fifteen percent were rough sleeping and 32% couch surfing at the time they saw an ac.care worker.
