VIDEO: Joy of Christmas shared through foster care

Foster carers across country South Australia will be sharing the joy of Christmas with young people in their care throughout the festive season.

It was Christmas 1999 when Murraylands couple Suzanne and Darren first opened their hearts and home to their first foster child, fulfilling their desire to start a family.

Fast-forward to 2023 and the loving parents will celebrate this Christmas with seven children – including two sets of biological siblings – who all came into their lives through foster care.

Darren has reflected on how special it is to share Christmas with his family and highlights the giving nature emerging as the children grow up in a caring environment.

It is a trait that has been role modelled to the fullest by Suzanne and Darren themselves over many years as foster carers, providing one of the most impactful and lasting gifts of a safe, nurturing home for their children to thrive.

Foster care made a family possible for Suzanne and Darren and it can transform your life too as a provider of long term, short term, emergency or respite care.

Every carer makes a difference in the life of a child.
