Our inspiring foster carers open their hearts and homes to hundreds of young people in need across eastern regional South Australia, transforming the lives of vulnerable children and youths.
But we need more people to join our network of carers - to provide long-term, short-term, occasional or respite care - for the growing number of young people in care with nowhere to call home.
Find out more about what is involved in becoming a foster carer and how ac.care will support you along every step of the journey by participating in one of our online information sessions.
Our webinar-style online events will feature ac.care staff members, along with a foster carer sharing their personal story and answering your questions.
The online information sessions will run for 45-60 minutes and also cover general information about the role of foster carers, types of care, support available and the approval process to become a carer.
While we usually provide information with stalls at public events and host sessions at public venues, such as libraries and community centres, we have designed an engaging online alternative while COVID-19 restrictions are in place.
Our chosen online platform for our information sessions is Microsoft Teams. You can register for a session by completing the form below and will receive an email to confirm your registration. Further resources and helpful information will be emailed to you prior to the sessions and we are also happy to talk to you via phone to answer any questions in the lead-up to the information sessions.
Dates for in-person public regional foster care information sessions will be scheduled once COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted and listed on our events/workshops page and our Facebook Events page.
These information sessions for small groups are an opportunity to meet ac.care foster care workers and sometimes a foster carer to be able to learn about fostering.
There is no 'hard sell' in the online or in-person sessions - it's an opportunity to learn more and meet the ac.care staff who will help by answering questions and assisting with the assessment procedure if you choose to become a foster carer.
Our network of foster carers are greatly valued by ac.care and we continue to work in partnership with our carers, supporting them every step of the foster caring journey, with staff on call 24/7.
